TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT FUND (TDF) Program

SSES is implementing a TDF ( Tribal Development Fund) program in Dornala, Yerragondapalem and Pullalacheruvu mandals of Prakasham Dist of AP. Under this program 1000 acres belonging to Chenchu tribes ( PTG groups ) is being developed. The program started in 2008 and we have successfully completed 1000 acres of plantation. The species selected are Mango, Amla, Sapota and Guava. Depending upon the soil alkalinity, we have selected the crop. We have taken up WRD and SMC interventions in the TDF program. We have provided irrigation facilities in the form of Ring Tanks, Bore wells and conveyed pressure pipe lines for systematic irrigation of Horticultural plantation. We are also seeking the support of the Water tanker for providing irrigation of the plantations, wherever WRD measures are to be completed.

We have constructed Farm Ponds for rain water collection and borewells recharge, wherever the need was felt. Under SMC works we have taken up Stone Bunding, New Farm Bunding and RDF depending upon the slopes available in the horticultural lands of the TDF farmers.

SSES is strengthening all the groups formed under TDF program through capacity building measures and to make the farmers run the program independently as the plantation comes to yielding stage and generate incomes through our horticultural interventions of TDF program. We are planning for formation of MACS society for the TDF farmers and encourage them for thrift and financial support in their future farm based activities. We are also planning to train them on Value addition of Horticultural yield through Dehydration and Juice extraction technologies, for additional incomes from their horticultural yield.
